About Us

We built what we couldn’t find.

My name is Elena. I have Hashimoto's disease.

I’ve had thyroid symptoms since I was fifteen years old. For most of my life, those symptoms didn’t have a name. Labs came back normal. Doctors said everything looked fine. I kept feeling like something was off, kept searching for an explanation, and kept being told there was nothing to find.

In February 2025, I finally got the diagnosis: Hashimoto’s disease — an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid. After years of searching, I finally had an answer, what I didn’t have was a road map.

“I looked for something honest, affordable, and real. Something built for a working mom with a full life, not a wellness influencer with a clean kitchen and unlimited time. I couldn’t find it. So my husband and I built it.”

That’s the Hash Eating Project. And that’s why it exists.

What we actually do.

HEP is a food and symptom tracking framework built specifically for people managing Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism. We built it around a single belief that the food on your plate is data, not a moral test.

Most of what exists in the Hashimoto’s wellness space is either expensive, overwhelming, or designed for someone who has already figured out the hard part. The programs that work tend to be practitioner-gated — available only if you can afford a functional medicine doctor, a nutritionist, or a high-end membership program. We didn’t have that. Most people don’t.

HEP was built to close that gap. Our tools are designed to be used in real life, with real food, by people who have real jobs and real families and real constraints. We use a 6-marker scoring system called the HEP Scorecard to evaluate meals against the things that actually matter for Hashimoto’s: anti-inflammatory load, selenium delivery, gut lining support, blood sugar stability, protein distribution, and micronutrient density.

Every meal gets a score. Not a judgment — a data point. That’s the whole framework.

Who this is for.

HEP is for anyone managing Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism who is tired of being told to “just eat clean” without anyone explaining what that actually means for their specific condition.

It’s for working moms, full-time employees, caregivers, and people who cook dinner at 6:30 PM and need something practical, not aspirational.

It’s for anyone who has ever looked at a meal and wondered if it was helping or hurting, and gotten no useful answer.

It is not a diet. It is not a detox. It is not a 30-day reset or an overnight overhaul. It is a sustainable, 1% shift framework built around steady progress, honest data, and long-term healing.
